Also in the field of modern medical science, the Japanese learned a lot especially from Germany, adopted its technologies and made a progress. B. Braun Aesculap Japan Co., Ltd. (referred to as BBAJ) was established in 1986, as a Japanese subsidiary of B. Braun Group whose head office is located in Germany. The products currently marketed in Japan are used in the pre-, peri- and post-operative medical front as well as in the outpatient clinics and home-care settings. It shows that we have been developing our business in line with our original target to promote the German medical instruments and devices in the Japanese market.

Although changes in our dietary habit after the World War II is said to westernize bodily habitus and constitution of the Japanese, there still exist anatomical differences.  BBAJ therefore considered it necessary to develop the medical instruments and devices fitting the needs from the local medical professionals and patients. The background of achieving a constant development since its establishment lies in the fact that we have been evaluating, analyzing the underlying needs and producing innovative products in cooperation with our German head office.

Presently, B. Braun Group has 188 subsidiaries in 54 countries worldwide where 39,500 employees are engaged. Its start goes back to 1839 as a small pharmacy.
